VOLUNTEER CLEARANCES
Pennsylvania law requires background checks for all volunteers working with children. Here's everything you need to complete your clearances.
Valid for 5 Years
- • FBI Background Check
- • PA State Police Check
- • Child Abuse History (ChildLine)
Renew Annually
- • Concussion Training (Heads Up)
- • SafeSport Training
- • EPYSA Risk Management
Log into your coaching account to submit all clearances.
What to do:
- New coaches: We'll create your account with your registration email. Click 'forgot password' to set up.
- Returning coaches: Log in at system.gotsport.com
- Go to Dashboard → you'll see your clearance checklist
- Click 'More Info' next to each clearance to complete it
Tip: Can't see clearances? Try: Family link → Select your name → Dashboard
Federal criminal history check — choose Option A or B based on your residency.
What to do:
- Option A (PA resident 10+ years): Sign the disclosure form with a witness — it's free!
- Option B (Less than 10 years in PA): Get fingerprinted through IDEMIA using code 1KG6ZJ
- Upload your completed clearance to GotSport
Tip: Option B takes time and has a fee — start ASAP! The closest IDEMIA fingerprinting location is the YMCA in Shrewsbury.
Pennsylvania criminal record check — quick and easy online.
PA child welfare background check through the Department of Human Services.
Online CDC training about recognizing and responding to concussions.
What to do:
- Click 'Launch Heads Up' in your GotSport account
- Complete the online training module
- Certificate auto-updates in GotSport (save a copy for your records)
Tip: Works best on a computer. Try a different browser if the button doesn't load.
U.S. Soccer abuse prevention training to keep athletes safe.
What to do:
- Note your access code shown in GotSport
- New users: Click 'Start Course' | Returning users: Click 'Access SafeSport'
- Select U.S. Soccer and enter your access code
- Complete the training (or refresher course if you've done it before)
- Certificate auto-updates in GotSport

- Read each statement carefully in GotSport
- Certify each statement
- Sign your name directly on the screen
